URA Elite

As the Utah Roundnet Association (URA) community continues to reach new heights, we take a look to expand our divisions to insure everyone has the most fun at tournaments.  New to 2023 Majors, we will be doing away with the 4.5 Pro division, and instead have a fully separate 5.0 Premier and 4.5 Elite divisions to have more even competition for everyone.

What is Elite?

Elite is the qualification only division for URA Major tournaments.  At least 1 teammate must be Elite qualified prior to the tournament to sign up, or the team will be moved to the 4.0 Advanced division.   Elite players also earn points throughout the season based on their results at Majors, with the top 16 teams in points will earn a spot in the Pro division at the URA Championships.

How to qualify for Elite?

  • Earn a 1st or 2nd place result in the 4.0 Advanced division at a URA Major without a current Elite qualified teammate.
  • Get a podium finish in the 4.5 Elite Division of a Major, with a current Elite qualified teammate (teammate cannot be Premier qualified).

Introducing 5.0 Premier Division

How does the 5.0 Premier Division work?

Similar to how the 4.5 Elite division requires 1 teammate to have Elite qualification, the 5.0 Premier division will require 1 teammate to have STS Premier qualification within the past calendar year

ie: players who's STS qualification expired in 2022 will still be able to play in the URA Premier division through the 2023 season.

Teams with only 1 Premier player will have the option to choose* whether to sign up for the Elite or Premier division. Teams with 2 Premier players must play in Premier.

*URA reserves the right to enforce teams to move up if there is an obvious sandbagging situation.

URA Points Race

All URA Elite (and Premier) players will earn points based on results at all Major tournaments.  The URA Points race has an extra purpose this year; along with the top 16 teams qualifying for the Pro division at URA championships, we will also be using the URA points to determine who will represent Team Utah at the USA Roundnet Regionals and Nationals squad competitions.

How are points calculated?

  • Points will be awarded to the teams in the top 15 results, with the 1st place in the 4.5 Elite division coming directly after the last place in the 5.0 Premier division.  1st place receives 200 points, with 15th place earning 10 points.
  • Final point totals will be calculated by the sum of a player's best 5 results throughout the season.
  • You can find a full list of each placements' awarded points, and the latest updated rankings on Fwango at the link below.
